8 Most Helpful Household Moving Tips

We know you have a lot on your mind when you are planning a move.  That’s why we are sharing a few simple tips that can really help you have your best household moving experience.  From all of us at Clancy, we are ready to work together to provide you with the best moving tips and advice along the way!  Please don’t hesitate to send us a message through chat or give us a call.

1. Don’t wait to schedule your free in-home or virtual survey.

Schedule an appointment for an in-home or virtual survey well in advance of your move, especially during the “Peak” times….May-September.

2. Do research on moving companies.

Research your moving companies!  Check out their reviews, website, BBB rating, and social media.

3. It’s never too early to start packing.

If you are doing your own packing, start early! Packing can be time-consuming and may be more difficult than you think. Label boxes with the room you would like them to go into your new home.

4. Downsize and declutter to save money on your move.

Think about downsizing to reduce costs and clutter. Keep what you need and consider donating the rest.

5. Create a “take with me” inventory for moving day.

Take important documents, medication, chargers for your electronics, valuables, etc. with you. You don’t want to be searching for them amidst the hectic schedule of moving {or looking through 100 boxes!}.

6. Communication is critical to your best moving experience.

Communicate any changes, concerns, and/or questions with your relocation team. Make sure they have your cell phone, email, etc. and let them know your preferred method of contact.

7.  Check inside and outside your old home before you leave.

Do a “walk-through” before you vacate your Origin home and again before the movers leave after delivering to ensure we haven’t left anything behind and your boxes and furniture are placed where you would like them.

8.  Use extra care with hardware and parts!

Keep special track of any hardware and parts for items that will be disassembled; tables, beds, etc.
